Zero-gravity zones are really good and give nice addition to gameplay.. To be honest: I really like the main game. Most of the tracks in the main game are at least good but most of the time even very good. And, there is this DLC...The maps are designed for "maximum" air-time which it self is ok BUT the map design for that is just horrible.Seriously: I never played maps in games of this style that are as bad as here. You are still in the last meters of an cornor and JUMP in the opposite direction. Good idea, yeah! And that's not all: there are still sometimes moving and sometimes stationair objects directly in your "flying" path. So, you got to fly to the small end of track and you have to evade the obstacles. Both together is almost impossible which results either in death by collision or death by not beeing able to hit the track. On the positive side: the soundtrack is good.. Not a perfect DLC, but well worth a purchase if you're a fan of the base game. I was mostly excited for the new ship at first, which unfortunately doesn't seem that great. Looking past that, the tracks are each unique and fresh. The zero-G gimmick is tough getting used to at first but if you've mastered the previous tracks it adds a new dimension to conquer. Buy it.. To preface, I'm a huge fan of the game, but the DLC tracks are... frustrating to say the least. This is an unpopular opinion, but my impression of the new tracks is that they are... anti-fun. I found myself more♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥off playing in Europa, and then Neptune through two sittings than I was cummulatively through all sixty hours I've spent on the original tracks. Beautiful control mechanics get slaughtered by mind numbingly sadistic track design with nine million ways to send you flying to your death and another dozen to kick you in your shins for taking safer race lines.I laud the dev's for their 'git gud' approach to handling game difficulty. Never change who you are. As for me, it looks like I'm not cut out for the SRRL.If you haven't already, buy the game - it's worth every penny. This DLC? pretty graphics, neat new carts, aneurysm inducing tracks. Great for those who like more than just a challenge.. Edit: the verdict of this review has been changed from recommend to not recommend. This is because Space Exploration Pack is out and its tracks are outright better than Neptune's. Buy that one instead unless you want the ships.Neptune is decent but not great. The gimmick is that there is zero gravity, so when airborne you have to fly your ship like a plane and pitch up and down rather than letting gravity do its work. There is a great deal of freedom in when and where you would like to land, and parts of the tracks can be skipped entirely if you choose not to land. (There are boundaries to the levels though so you can't go too far off course) However it also means that the track builders are very lazy, as large portions of the tracks are empty space. Aesthetics wise I find this to be one of the more beautiful areas because of the planetary ring in the background and the red and blue lighting scheme. The other part of the DLC, the Buran team, is underwhelming. This team is an amalgamation of Conqueror and Asera, having good top speed, energy (but not as good as those 2 teams above) and durability, but bad acceleration and grip. In my opinion it just ends up being a worse version of Asera, since its bad grip means you will either hit the fence or have to break on turns, but it also has bad acceleration so you don't recover that speed quickly afterwards. Asera solves that problem by having the best energy, but Buran gives that up in favor of higher top speed, which doesn't matter anyway when Asera can boost. I also find their ship designs to be hideous, like if Redout were a movie or TV show the villain would definitely be using Buran (they are Chinese and Russian so stereotype dictates they be the bad guys anyway, but I digress), but that's just a personal opinion. But I think the maps are worth the asking price on its own, and can tentatively make a recommendation. (not any more) Space Exploration and Back to Earth are both better DLCs if you don't have them already (although they don't have new ships).. The Neptune DLC pack is a remarkable, must-have addition to an already sublime racing experience. These tracks push the boundaries of Redout’s track design and physics engine, providing a unique racing experience that still fit comfortably within the game’s scope and mechanics.Plenty of racing games throw in outer space tracks as a sort of aesthetic novelty, but Redout FULLY commits to the idea, giving us tracks that not only are set in space but fully embrace the lack of gravity and gravitas of the surrounding scene. In each of the five included circuits, the tracks are designed to give the player more and more time in literal zero-g spaceflight, concluding with tracks where you actually fly through space, hopping from track section to track section. It’s thrilling stuff, made all the better by the great orchestral additions to the soundtrack and incredible vistas of seeing the huge blue planet of Neptune looming across the horizon. They’ve also added a bunch of new career mode events, which are alone worth the price of admission. In short, BUY THE DLC!. A caveat: Haven't unlocked the other tracks. But the first one in Neptune, Mobeus, already feels better than the first Europa track...The new vehicle Buran is hilarious. A mix between Koeniggswerth and Conqurer. Hefty, beefy. Drives like a nimble bathtub w/ huge rocket boosters. Energy regen kinda stinks, though, but you can't have 'em all. (Looking at you, Sulha, the greased aluminum can rockets...)The soundtrack is ridonkulous. Makes the subwoofers very happy. Woof.. FLY THROUGH ASTEROIDS.The devs realised that the only way to make Redout more awesome was zero-G Redout IN SPACE, and so that's precisely what they did.Good call, guys. The Buran ships are worthless but the tracks, OMG. Neptune is easily the most stunning environment to date. Just when you thought they couldn't top Europa, try dodging space junk in zero-G.Gravity is for losers! Get Neptune!!. Basically,It's pod racing but the track is Rainbow Road on steriods
