No crew will be the same!More Strategies To ExploreRenowned Explorers is about strategy, and More To Explore gives you brand new ways to build it. Gathered around the campfire, your crew draws on their past and ambitions as they tell Campfire Stories of your choice. These stories play like cards from a deck, where each story has the ability to transform both your strategy and your crew. Compose different crews to create new decks and unlock new stories after every adventure.Treasures already granted you nice bonuses, but in this expansion they become a real treat. Each discovery lets you choose from semi-random powerful bonuses, adding to your plan. And if you can't decide, chairman Pinkerton is there to help! With this expansion you can be more certain than ever: no new adventure will be the same. Not just new content but things that actually add to the original game.. Absolutely fantastic game. A great blend of strategy and boardgame-like play. I really enjoy the fact that you can play through an entire campaign in a few hours, and then start again wtih a completely different crew. I've been having a blast.. I need MORE to explore!. Renowned Explorers: More to Explore is a great DLC which adds new features, locations and hours and hours more content making it an essential purchase for fans of the base game.General ContentRenowned Explorers: More To Explore adds some extra features for those who want to even more content for the original game. The DLC consists of two extra locations to explore where you’ll find new events and treasures as well as some awesome new mechanics such as the campfire. The campfire is by far my favourite new feature of the game and for me not only does it add a lot of replayability, but the backstories and campfire cards also give you more of a reason to play again. Once you’ve visited a few location on an island you’ll be able to use the campfire (it can only be used once per island). When you use the campfire you’ll be able to select one from four random cards from your available cards. The remaining cards can be kept for your next campfire stop or discarded if it’s not something you want or need. Cards can range from adding things like gold or research to giving your characters backstories or allowing them to interact with each other. You can forge friendships or make enemies depending on which you select giving your crew a little more personality than just their skills. After each run you’ll receive new packs with new cards depending on how well you did on that run and these cards will carry over to your next run.Another huge feature is the ability to pick your rewards on occasion so instead of being stuck with gold when you are doing a research run you have a little more chance of getting what you need. Some rewards even stack with your explorers traits making runs a little more fruitful than they used to be. If you’re not sure what to pick there's also a handy little feature where one will be recommended for you though you’re not forced to pick it.The two new locations added the the game consist of the Andean Adventure and The Lost Island both of which are unique in terms of rewards, treasures and events. Though I would have liked to see more locations the two new ones do add more than enough and it’s just my own personal love for the game making me want more. Pros--- New campfire feature adding some character dialogue between the group, friendships which group members and a little backstory to them.--- Two new locations to explore including new events and treasures.--- Cards: Though this is linked to campfires the randomization this gives to the game adds even more replayability.--- Choice in rewards now added.Cons--- None. Seriously, I can’t think of anything that left me disappointed.SummaryMore To Explore is DLC that’s well worth every penny. Instead of feeling like features were removed from the original game to be sold later for an extra cost, RE: MTE adds great EXTRA content and makes me actually hope for more future DLC. If you know me you know it’s very hard to convince me to buy when it comes to spending more money on a game i’ve already purchased but this is well worth it and had renewed my passion for the game. I grabbed the DLC at 20% off but even at full price it’s a steal.. Excellent add-ons which make the main game even more fun, well worth it, thumbs up!. Halfway through the Andean adventure and it's already shaping up to be the most interesting expedition with a captivating storyline and some new mechanics (city travel). The campfire is neat and requires some planning ahead. My favourite little feature addition are the customizable treasures though.. How do you fight a llama? I'm glad you asked, my friend. This is a question philosophers have asked themselves through the ages. Now it's your turn, as you can fight one yourself with this DLC!Not only will you get your chance to witness displays of llama drama (which may cause you to go cry to your mama), but your crew of explorers will become more epic over time as you collect campfire stories. Ever wonder what Dolores, the Mexican wrestling star, would want her crew of non-wrestlers to do? Or what about Earl and how he spends his free time? What kind of thievery does Harry enjoy? And how do you fight a llama?Did I also mention that there are llamas in this DLC?Great graphics. New places to explore. Enhanced replayability. Tons of fun. And Llamas.. Nice addition to an already great game.Adds more variety to the core game, giving additional reason to come back. In exploration games you'll always want to discover more. Eventually (about 100 hours for me) you'll have only a couple things you haven't seen and they become increasingly harder to get to. I like that challenge, but the DLC makes it easier to come back and taste new flavours. Liked the game before, not going to change, now it gets some more mileage.A huge plus on this game is the dev support, adding a free DLC beforehand, holiday extras and forum challenges. Just for that I would have bought this DLC. I feel they have earned my money.. Very good expansion. When I first got this game (Humble Monthly), I played it through once before seeing that there was an expansion on the way, and then I waited until it was out to play it again.I\\'m glad I did. It\\'s a major improvement that is completely worth the asking price ($6.74 at launch, will be raised to $7.50 on June 7th, still worth it). A little bit of agency with regard to the treasures makes them feel far more rewarding and interesting, and the campfire stories are interesting, even if I haven\\'t really dealt with them enough to say just how interesting. It also adds More to Explore, so that\\'s cool. My first run after the expansion didn\\'t involve those locations, though, so I can\\'t comment on if that explorable more is all that great or not.. SUMMARY: The expansion adds some wonderful new mechanics that tweak or minimize some of the problems of the original. It's expensive though, and a lot of the problems I had with the base game are entirely untouched.PROS: - The Fireplace mechanic finally lets you level up your party in the middle of an expedition, in addition to granting some small bonuses that let you better steer your party toward whichever victory condition you've chosen. The conversations can sometimes be significant and grant far-reaching bonuses. (My last playthrough, I unlocked an item that let me go on expeditions 1 tier sooner.) - Treasures now let you choose from a couple of options for what effect they have or what bonus they grant. This can let you choose a effect that will help your party toward whatever victory condition you've chosen. (e.g. If your party thrives on a particular token, you can choose an effect that increases the effect of that token.) - There are two new possible expeditions. More expedition choices are always welcome.CONS: - Especially the first few times you play, the fireplace card options are limited and underwhelming. They become more interesting as you unlock booster packs, but then the randomness sometimes prevents you from seeing a card that could be useful until it's too late to use it. Also, while unlocking booster packs is fun, how many can there be? Eventually that entire reward system will play out, because there isn't any other deckbuilding-like support. - The majority of the fireplace conversations are repetitive and uninteresting. They could benefit from choices and the inclusion of skills. - The treasure options are not at all balanced. (I've frequently seen it happen where one option lets me pick two of a token and another option lets me pick four of that token. Why is the first option included?) - Two additional expeditions is still too few. Far too few. It can stil be frustrating to find an expedition that suits a party and its victory goals, and playing the same expeditions repeatedly (which is inevitable because there are so few) gets dull fast. - Since I installed the DLC, the game has become buggy. The most common bug is that I'll visit a node in an expedition, get no reward, and then suddenly icons will appear around it as though new encounters and rewards were there. It can't be explored again.MOST IMPORTANTLY:It's important that you know what sort of game this is before you buy it. It's a very short, rather shallow, casual game. It's more like a puzzle game than an any kind of RPG. In my review of the main game I described the experience of playing it as seeing a thing like a lake, only to discover that it was nothing but a broad puddle. That still remains. Mostly you spend an hour reacting to random mcguffins in an attempt to achieve an arbitrary goal, like bejeweled or tetris, but the blocks look like people and have names. It's stretched out a bit and has an interesting setting, but there isn't any chance to really enjoy the idea, setting, or potential.
